Lead-Based Paint Safety Training
Lead poisoning can affect anyone, but it is especially dangerous for children under the age of six. That's why the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires that any company that performs work that can disturb paint in pre-1978 housing or child-occupied facilities needs a certified renovator on site to oversee the measures taken to prevent contamination.
Greenville Technical College has trained more than 8,500 renovators since the EPA regulations became effective in April 2010, and we can help you protect yourself and those around you with:
- EPA-approved Lead Renovator certification training for contractors who perform work that disturbs painted surfaces in pre-1978 housing and child-occupied facilities (such as daycares and kindergartens).
- EPA-approved classes in all five abatement disciplines for lead hazard control work -- inspectors, risk assessors, project designers, supervisors and workers.
- Approvals for lead training in several states that administer their own lead programs (such as AL, NC and GA).
WHAT TO EXPECT
EPA certification courses for renovators and abatement professionals are designed to cover a lot of information in a short time. Classes are one to four days in length depending upon the discipline. All disciplines except for renovator, worker and project designer require a 3rd-party examination for certification.
CERTIFICATION
Courses offered may be used for licensing as a certified renovator or lead abatement professional in North Carolina, South Carolina, and several other states. Call Karen Hampton at 864-250-8438 to inquire about specific state approvals.
